Resources to Help You Learn R

If you're new to programming, the white screen within R can be pretty intimidating. There are a number of resources available to help, so there's no need to stay stuck for long. Most of these are entirely free, though a few well written books are included as well.


E-Books

There are dozens & dozens of e-books written about R. Some are well written & worth your time, most are not. Many of these were written by statistics professors. These are all available for free download as PDF and will give you an overview of how to work with R.


Tutorials

This collection of sites offers step-by-step tutorials on how to work with R. This would be a good place to start for the absolute beginner. If you have any experience with programming then the slow pace of these will get old quickly.


Courses

The need for data analysts & data mining skills has risen sharply over the past decade. There are now courses available online to help with learning this material. This is a huge boon. If you have the time to commit to regular study be sure to check these out.


Books

The majority of the resources listed on this site are free. Still, there are some great books available that can help clarify points, go further with explanations & provide code samples.
